Rule Builder

The rule builder is a tool within EDS to help ease the process of rule building.

This section will cover the different categories in the rule builder.

KeyWords

  • KeyWords are mathematical and logical operators that can be easily pasted into your rules.

Indicator Fields

  • The indicator field returns numerical values for indicators within the charts program.

  • Indicator fields must always be enclosed in brackets.

Fundamental Fields

  • The fundamental fields available are determined by the strategy you've selected in the AIQ fundamentals module.

  • Fundamental fields must be enclosed in brackets.

  • Fundamental data can't be back tested.

Built-in Functions

  • Built-in functions perform mathematical procedures (e.g., square root of a number)

  • They also perform specific quantities (e.g., highest value in a series of numbers or a date)

  • Built-in functions can return a logical value (true/false or pass/no-pass)

Prebuilt Routines

  • Prebuilt routines are simple rules that are supplied to easily cut and paste into the EDS strategies.

  • These routines are provided for the beginning user.

User Rules

  • User rules are only listed from the current EDS file.

  • You can easily cut and paste rule names that you have built in your EDS scan into other rules in that scan.

User Defined Functions

  • User defined functions are only listed from the current EDS file.

  • You can easily cut and paste user defined function names that you have built in your EDS scan into other rules in that scan.

User Constants

  • User constants are only listed from the current EDS file.

  • You can easily cut and paste user constants names that you have built in your EDS scan into other rules in that scan.

Application Fields

  • Fields that are used to construct rules that will function with back test information.
